Drinking tea, lots of tea, is a favourite past time, or rather, a favourite beverage for the Bedouin living in the Wadi Rum of Jordan.
This tea, experienced in the smallest of cups, is a mixture of natural resources grown in the desert. These ingredients consist of hibiscus, cardamom and a bit of cinnamon, as well as added sugar or honey. Prepared over the fire, this was a delightful sense to our taste buds as we finished off hard days of hiking in the desert.
The 3 day, 40km hike took us through some vast, open, desert landscapes, sleeping in traditional Bedouin tents…with plenty of tea to go around. Here’s our Tale:
